Timed games to train Japanese reflexes: kanji tank across 5 JLPT levels, alphabet practice, spotting fake kanji, serving sushi, speaking out loud.
Reflex means you know it but can't think of it in time. These games run a clock to force quick decisions, instead of mulling it over like homework.
Answers are always picked from several cards, never typed: on a phone the on-screen keyboard takes up more than half the screen and covers the whole battlefield.
This is more tiring than looking at flashcards, but it's the real situation — Japanese people finish talking and wait, they don't wait for you to look up words.
